Smooth heated stones are rested along the back and worked over the body with oil, so the warmth does the loosening that pressure would otherwise have to force. It is the most passive treatment on our list and the one guests pick when they want depth without a therapist leaning into them.

Two things happen at once: stones resting where the muscle needs time, stones moving where it needs work.
The therapist begins by laying warmed stones along the back and leaving them there while working elsewhere. Held heat softens tissue in a way a passing stroke cannot, and by the time the stones are lifted the muscle underneath has already given way. The same stones are then used in the palm as gliding tools, with oil, in long strokes.
Pressure stays in the medium range from start to finish. Nothing is held on a painful spot and nothing is stretched hard. If your shoulders are more tender than tight, this is the gentler road to the same place, and it is the reason guests who bounced off deep tissue work tend to settle here.
Both use heat and both cost the same. The difference is how the heat is delivered.
Prices
The printed figure is the same at both branches, but what you settle at the desk is not: one adds the 5% VAT to it and the other already contains it.

Good to Know
Warm enough to be the working part of the treatment and never hot enough to hurt. The therapist tests each stone against your skin before placing or gliding it, and the temperature should read as deeply comfortable rather than sharp. Say something the moment it does not, because a stone is trivially easy to set aside and let cool and impossible to fix after the session. Guests who know that heat does not agree with them are better served by the Purifying Swedish Massage, which gives the same medium pressure and whole body coverage without any heat at all, at 500 AED for sixty minutes rather than 600. Tell reception when you book if you have circulation problems. Reception can note the preference against your booking so the therapist starts at a temperature you have already agreed rather than at a default setting.
All three, since August 2026: Al Barsha on the rooftop of the Grand Excelsior, Bur Dubai on the HC floor of the Grand Excelsior Hotel on Kuwait Street in Mankhool, and DIFC on floor 45 of the Residence Inn by Marriott at 115 Sheikh Zayed Road, in Trade Centre Second. Every branch prints 600 AED for sixty minutes and 800 for ninety, though Al Barsha and Bur Dubai add the 5% VAT at the till while DIFC has it inside the figure. What still differs is the hammam: Bur Dubai and DIFC have a heated room, so a Moroccan Bath before the stones is bookable at those two addresses on the same visit, and Al Barsha has none.
Ask whether the problem is tenderness or a knot. Deep muscle work is the tool for a single stubborn area: slow, narrow and firm, aimed directly at it, with mild soreness the next day as a normal outcome. Hot stone treats a whole region by warming it until it gives, which reaches further than a plain oil massage without a therapist ever pressing hard. If your shoulders are sore to the touch, heat is the kinder route and will get you further. If one spot has been locked for a month, book the Deep Muscle Massage. Both cost 600 AED for sixty minutes, so the price does not decide it for you. Neither treatment carries an Early Bird rate, so the hour you choose changes only how easy the slot is to get rather than what you pay for it.
Sixty minutes at 600 AED covers the back, shoulders and neck, which is long enough for stones to be set down and left on a region rather than only passed across it. That resting time is the whole mechanic of the treatment, so an hour spread thinly over every area wastes it. Ninety minutes at 800 AED is the length for the full body, because each region needs its own few minutes under held heat before the muscle gives. We do not run it at two hours: past ninety minutes sustained heat stops adding anything, and the extra time is better spent on the Deep Muscle Massage. All three branches print the same two figures, but on different VAT terms, so check which basis applies on the page of the branch you plan to visit.
Before, every time. The bath lifts the outer layer of dead skin with a kessa glove, and skin in that state takes oil far better, so stones glide over it instead of dragging. Reversing the order wastes both: the scrub would take off the oil you just paid to have worked in. Ask reception to sequence the two rooms on one visit and you move from the hammam straight to the table without waiting in between. One thing to be clear about: the fixed Royal Hammam package pairs the bath with a standard full body massage, not with stones, so this is booked as two separate items at their own prices. The pairing needs a hammam room, so it works at Bur Dubai and DIFC but not at Al Barsha, which runs the stones without one.
